Las Señoritas CubanasEl Tesoro De La Isla De Cuba, The Treasury Of The Island of Cuba5 Pesos 1891
Spanish influence in this Caribbean island nation dates to the 16th century. Most banknotes in Cuba were issued by the Banco Español De La Isla De Cuba, a commercial bank. But in 1891 the Treasury issued a very lovely series of banknotes printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Company in Surrey, this series has some of the best vignettes available for any nation in the Caribbean region. This lovely 5 Pesos note features a young lady with an angel and trumpet. This note is P-39. 20 Pesos 1891
Another lovely printing by Bradbury Wilkinson & Company in Surrey, England, this note features a single lovely reclining. Spain contracted with Bradbury Wilkinson for many years into the 1930's for it's own notes so it is no surprise that they did so also for their colonies.
This 200 Pesos note represents the largest and scarcest note in this lovely series, not in pretty condition but a very rare note all the while. |
